The Meridian High School Class of 1970 has established a memorial fund at Citizens National Bank to honor the life of Dr. Gus A. “Sonny” Rush, who passed away on August 20, 2021. The MHS Class of 1970, along with the Rush family, wants to honor Dr. Rush’s life by improving the lives of students who pass through the halls of Meridian High School aspiring to pursue a career in a medically related field.

Dr. Sonny was the Class President of the MHS Class of 1970. He loved Meridian High, and he loved young people. This fund is being created to encourage MHS students to follow in his footsteps. You may donate to this memorial fund by mailing your donation to Citizens National Bank, P. O. Box 911, Meridian MS 39302-0911 or by visiting any Citizens National Bank branch and making a deposit to the account established for this purpose in the name of Dr. G. A. “Sonny” Rush MHS Scholarship Fund.”
