John Averett has joined the Bank as the Director of Operations, and his office is located at CNB's Operations Center in the North Meridian/Broadmoor area.
In this new position, John now has oversight of the Bank's loan, deposit, and electronic banking functions. Going forward, he will be taking the lead in the project management and development of new lines of business and services offered by the Bank, as well as the development of improved workflow and efficiency processes. As Director of Operations, John will be reporting directly to the Bank's Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Stringer. This newly created position directly relates to one of the Bank’s major strategic goals of separating Bank operations from Bank technology so that the Bank can adequately focus on both of these areas.
Another important aspect of John’s role as Director of Operations will be to provide team development and leadership, to maintain continuous lines of communication, and to keep the Bank's executive management informed of critical issues. In addition, John will also represent the Bank externally as necessary with key vendor relationships such as FIS, which is the provider of Bankway and Horizon XE.
Originally from Cuba, Alabama, John is a graduate of Sumter Academy in York, Alabama. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and is also a graduate of the Alabama Banking School in Mobile.
In 2002, Averett began his financial career at the Bank of York in the management trainee program. Over his 18 years with the Bank, he served as a Loan Officer, Customer Information Security Officer, Bank Security Officer, Network Administrator, Audit Manager and Chief Operations Officer.
Since May 2020, John has been serving as Senior Vice President of Operations for Great Southern Bank in Meridian.
He has assisted with various community organizations such as Relay for Life and the United Way of West Alabama, and served on the Alabama Recovery Coalition for the Financial Sector, which ensures that critical financial services continue during times of disaster. He has also served as Treasurer for the Sumter School Foundation.
Averett has three children, Shelby, William, and John. He and his family are members of Cuba Presbyterian Church in Cuba.
Welcome to CNB, John. We are so glad to have you as a new member of the CNB family!
