Tyeisha Smith Receives Well Deserved Recognition
Tyeisha Smith, Community Development Officer at CNB, was honored Tuesday, September 17, 2024, as one of Meridian’s Top 20 Under 40. The reception, which was presented by Mississippi Power and East Mississippi Connect, was held at the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center (The MAEX).
With a passion for community involvement, Tyeisha serves on the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee for The Salvation Army of Meridian. She also serves as a Board Member for The Meridian Freedom Project which mentors local middle and high school students who are at risk through and provides after school and summer enrichment programs.
As Community Development Officer at the Bank, Tyeisha loves working with students as well as adults to help educate them about the basics of managing their money, improving their credit score, becoming first time homeowners, starting their own business, and more. A prime example of her service in recent years has been in support of the Meridian Housing Authority’s Youth Build Program. Tyeisha and other bank officials have led 8-week courses to help students to learn basic skills about managing their money and planning for the future.
In recent years, she has also played an instrumental role in the Bank’s efforts to lead first time homebuyer workshops and participate in housing expos out in the community. Tyeisha is extremely knowledgeable about programs that are available to help low income borrowers with down payment assistance or access funds to make needed repairs to their existing homes. In support of minority business owners, she has also been heavily involved in the Meridian’s Black Business Expo which is held annually in downtown Meridian.
A member of Love City Fellowship Church, Tyeisha is the proud mom of a son, Marcus Matthews, who is a junior at Mississippi Valley State University. The recipient of a band scholarship, Marcus plays the snare drum at the University.
