Houston Moore Promoted

Hampton D. Thames, Bank President and CEO, is pleased to announce that Houston Moore has been promoted to the position of Chief Internal Auditor and Security Officer for Citizens National Bank.

Thames recently commented, “This position is critical for the Bank as one of our major priorities is to maintain public confidence in terms of our operational integrity as well as a trustworthy reputation with our customers, shareholders, and regulators. In carrying out this mission, the primary objective for Houston and his Internal Audit team is to continually monitor the Bank’s risk environment and develop an appropriate program of audit oversight. We are extremely fortunate to have someone like Houston serving in this position, given his level of experience, as well as his proven dedication to the Bank,” Thames added.

Moore originally joined the Bank in 2003 in the Officer Trainee Program and later served as a credit analyst in CNB’s Credit Administration Department. In 2006, he assumed a position with the Mississippi Department of Banking and Consumer Finance as an examiner, and gained valuable experience as he conducted examinations of state-licensed mortgage companies and mortgage originators to evaluate their safety and soundness. He continued to serve in this capacity until 2011, when he rejoined the Bank as a Vice President and Risk Management Officer in June of 2011.

Since June 2015, Moore has served as Vice President/Internal Auditor, and is responsible for managing the overall internal and branch audit functions of the Bank and coordinating all audits from external organizations. Over the course of his career, Houston has achieved numerous certifications through the Independent Community Bankers of America including Certified Community Bank Compliance Auditor (CCBCO), Certified Community Bank Internal Auditor (CCBIA), and Certified Community Bank Risk Specialist (CCBRS).

As Chief Internal Auditor and Security Officer, Moore is a member of the Bank’s Executive Leadership Team and reports to the Bank’s President and CEO, Hampton Thames, as well as the Board of Directors’ Audit Committee.

David Barr, Chairman of the Bank’s Audit Committee, recently commented, “Since assuming the senior auditor position for the Bank in 2015, Houston has been very effective in leading his department in monitoring our bank’s compliance with our policies, practices, and regulations. As a Board member, I have now worked with Houston for over a decade and during this time he has continually demonstrated an eagerness to add value to the Bank through his position.  With his promotion to Chief Internal Auditor, Houston will assume expanded responsibilities for monitoring and mitigating the bank’s risk environment. As the Bank continues to grow, so does the burden for recognizing and mitigating risk,” Barr said.  “The Director’s Audit Committee believes Houston and his team will continue to provide an effective response,” he added.

A graduate of Mississippi State University, Moore received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2002. He is also a 1998 graduate of Meridian High School.

He and his wife, Kasey, and their twin daughters, Stella and Sofie, are residents of the Snell community.
